Philippe Hérard est né à Châlons-en-Champagne en 1966. Il se consacre dès l’adolescence à la peinture. Ses œuvres (acryliques sur toile) sont exposées en galeries ainsi que dans divers salons d’art en France comme à l’étranger. Depuis 2009, il complète son travail sur toile en déclinant ses personnages anonymes sur papier kraft qu’il colle sur les murs de Paris et d’ailleurs.
« C’est en me retrouvant sans galerie pour exposer que je me suis tourné vers les murs extérieurs. Tout en continuant mes toiles, je décide d’investir les rues sur papier. C’était non pas une revendication ou une résistance mais bien l’envie de montrer. Le besoin du regard de l’autre, l’échange. Pour ma part, l’exposition c’est passer d’un monologue d’atelier à un dialogue à découvert. »
Il mêle collage de papier kraft, crayonné sur mur, fusain et peinture. Les planètes de ses œuvres les plus récentes sont composées de superpositions de papiers journaux collés entre eux, peints de sorte que le texte et les images des articles participent à l’effet d’ombre et de matière. Avec ses personnages, Philippe Hérard écrit des histoires et poésies urbaines qui invitent à la réflexion et au dialogue. Son univers artistique est peuplé de personnages fragiles, démunis, qui semblent être en recherche permanente de leur place dans le monde, symbôles douloureux de la condition humaine. Ses installations nous observent, elles sont le miroir de nos états d’âme et le reflet de notre société.
L’homme-boué, l’homme-vigie, l’homme en équilibre incertain sur une sphère…suscitent tous un même sentiment de tristesse lasse. Les planètes sont désertes, trop petites, polluées, l’océan est souillé, l’univers est inhabitable, sale et déshumanisé. Une façon de montrer la solitude profonde qui frappe l’humanité contemporaine.

Philippe Hérard wurde 1966 in Châlons-en-Champagne (Frankreich) geboren. Schon als Jugendlicher fing er an zu malen. Seine Arbeiten (Acryl auf Leinwand) sind in Galerien sowie in verschiedenen Kunstausstellungen in Frankreich und im Ausland zu sehen. Seit 2009 ergänzt er seine Leinwandbilder mit Arbeiten auf Kraftpapier, auf das er seine anonymen Figuren überträgt. Diese klebt er an Straßenwände in Paris und anderen Städten.
« Als ich keinen Galerievertrag mehr hatte, begann ich mit den Wandgemälden in der Stadt. Ich entschied, die Straßen zu bekleben und setzte aber gleichzeitig meine Leinwandmalerei fort. Es war kein Anspruch oder Widerstand, sondern der Wunsch, etwas zu zeigen. Das Bedürfnis nach dem Blick der Anderen, dem Austausch. Für mich ist eine Ausstellung der Übergang von einem Atelier-Monolog zu einem offenen Dialog. «
Er mischt Kraftpapier-Collage, Wand-Zeichnungen, Kohle und Malerei. Die Planeten seiner jüngsten Arbeiten setzen sich aus übereinandergelegtem Zeitungspapier zusammen, die so bemalt sind, dass Text und Bilder der Artikel einen Effekt von Schatten und Materie bewirken. Philippe Hérard schreibt mit seinen Figuren urbane Geschichten und Gedichte, die zum Nachdenken und zum Dialog einladen. Sein künstlerisches Universum wird von zerbrechlichen, mittellosen Charakteren bevölkert, die scheinbar ständig auf der Suche nach ihrem Platz in der Welt sind, schmerzhaften Symbolen der menschlichen Natur oder conditio humana. Seine Installationen beobachten uns, sie sind ein Spiegelbild unseres Geisteszustands und eine Widerspiegelung unserer Gesellschaft.
Der Boje-Mann, der Wächter, der Mann in ungewissem Gleichgewicht auf einer Kugel … alle erwecken das gleiche Gefühl müder Traurigkeit. Die Planeten sind verlassen, zu klein, verschmutzt, das Meer ist verseucht, das Universum ist unbewohnbar, schmutzig und entmenschlicht. Eine Art, die tiefe Einsamkeit zu zeigen, die die heutige Menschheit trifft.

Philippe Hérard was born in Châlons-en-Champagne in 1966. He devoted himself to painting as a teenager. His works (acrylic on canvas) are exhibited in galleries as well as in various art exhibitions in France and abroad. Since 2009, he completed his work on canvas by declining his anonymous characters on kraft paper he sticks on the walls of Paris and elsewhere.
« It was when I found myself without a gallery to expose that I turned to the outer walls. While continuing my paintings, I decided to invest the streets on paper. It was not a claim or a resistance but the desire to show. The need of the look of the other, the exchange. For me, the exhibition is going from a workshop monologue to an open dialogue. «
He mixes collage of kraft paper, sketched on a wall, charcoal and paint. The planets of his most recent works are composed of superimpositions of newspaper papers glued together, painted so that the text and the images of the articles participate in the effect of shadow and matter. With his characters, Philippe Hérard writes urban stories and poems that invite reflection and dialogue. His artistic universe is populated by fragile, destitute characters, who seem to be in constant search of their place in the world, painful symbols of the human condition. His installations observe us, they are the mirror of our states of mind and the reflection of our society.
The man-buoy, the watchman, the man in uncertain equilibrium on a sphere … all give rise to the same feeling of weary sadness. The planets are deserted, too small, polluted, the ocean is soiled, the universe is uninhabitable, dirty and dehumanized. One way to show the profound loneliness that strikes contemporary humanity.
